Yes, it’s “Mega SwagBucks Friday” but what on earth does that mean? It’s like oversized dollar bills should be falling from the sky- and I peeked outside.  The only bills are the ones in my mailbox.

My rule here on TCC.com is if it sounds too good to be true, then it is and I’m not posting it.  So know that while Swagbucks sounds too good to be true, they really are real and beneficial.

Here’s how I use Swagbucks:

Overview-

Swagbucks is an online rewards program that you earn points for random online activities.  The most common is searching, you know, like searching for a recipe or looking for a local restaurant’s hours on the web.  Most of us use Google- but Google doesn’t reward us and Swagbucks is backed by Google.  Same results + you earn money!

After accumulating Swagbucks overtime, you can redeem them in the SwagStore for Gift Cards from retailers like Amazon, Target, Starbucks, CVS, and more.  I recommend downloading the Toolbar because you earn 1 Swagbuck each day just for opening your browser. BTW- new accounts earn 30 SwagBucks just for registering.

Steps for Downloading the Toolbar:

1. Open your Swagbucks account.
2. Click “Toolbars” on the left side.
3. Click “DOWNLOAD”
4. Select whether or not you want Swagbucks as your default browser.
5. Your toolbar will appear at the top of your screen.
6. Start searching & earning!

My Story-

I realized with our recent move that TV was a huge time & money suck for us.  Sure it’s relaxing, but so is a glass of wine.  Our old cable/internet bill with Comcast was about $150 per month.  Or…

That’s a sure fire college tuition payment if I ever saw one.

Now, I need internet.  I wouldn’t be able to run my business with out it. But TV?  Ah, not so much.  I price checked/compared/haggled/gift card bonus offered myself to death and finally settled on AT&T U-verse.

Internet Max? Yes. We can stream TV from HULU flawlessly to our other TVs in the house with the upgraded Internet service!

With my AT&T U-Verse order, I will recieve $160 in Visa Gift Cards from AT&T for being a new customer. (Buh Bye Comcast!)  So with that I will turn around and purchase the Logitech Revue from Amazon and turn one additional TV into a SmartTV.  Instead of a remote, we’ll have a keyboard and will watch TV from the internet.

The kids TVs will remain DVD-Wii machines with occasional streaming from their tablets.

This works for us but I realize cable TV is like underwear- we all need a different style.

• If you’re not up for change or are locked into a contract, I urge you to call your cable company and simply ask for a discount.  Especially those of you that have been long time customers.  Or call up the cable company and tell them you’re thinking about switching.  See what they offer just to keep your business!
