Stockpile Budgeting Tips
New to using coupons?I recommend beginners spend 60% of the grocery budget on necessities and 40% on stockpiling.
If your monthly grocery budget is $400 a month (or $100 a week) you should spend about-
- $60 on Necessities
- Milk, Bread, Eggs, Cheese, Toilet Paper, and anything else your house NEEDS.
- $40 on those REALLY great deals
- Deals like- $1.00 Laundry Detergent, $.05 Pasta, or $1.50 Fancy Razors
Why? Because you’ll need to eat wholesome and healthy meals while building your stockpile. During your first week of couponing you might find spaghetti sauce, mayo, and crackers are the best deals. Great!
But spaghetti baked crackers with a side of mayo just isn’t gonna fly…
After about 2 months, you’ll realize your NEED list is dwindling each week because you have a lot of your need items stockpiled from when they were a great deal. Perfect. Keep reading…
Coupon Pro?Your 60/40 percentages should now flip-
- $60 on those GREAT deals
- Because you have most of the things you need.
- $40 on produce, meat, etc.
- Your percentages may be even smaller as you coupon longer
What on earth is stockpiling? That’s the art of buying an item when, at it’s lowest price and with a coupon, is crazy cheap and affordable in large quantities. Refer back to “How To Coupon” to better understand why we stockpile.
I’ll let you define “large quantities” for yourself {Extreme Couponing} but remember- the item will be on sale again!
I prefer buying 6-10 of an item when it’s crazy cheap.
