The “S” Word
SAVING

Not to frighten you but Christmas is 12 weeks away and while you should have been saving all along, I realize that some haven’t prepared AT ALL for the holiday.
How can you avoid the panic next year?
Direct Deposit
Have a certain amount sent each pay period to a dedicated Holiday Account at your bank. A simple checking account works well.
Easy Savings
Most banks offer a Way 2 Save or Keep the Change type program. Use it! We have $600 saved up in ours and it’s only October.
#CashOnly Change
We’re on a cash only system (no debit cards allowed!) and use bills only to pay for purchases. We rack up the change in a mason jar or large container that’s dedicated to holiday spending.
Part Time Job
Can you pick up babysitting one night a month or sell crafts at Spring and Fall Festivals? Try to find light or seasonal work where you can bank the cash without a ton of hours spent away from your family.
Monday’s post was about budgeting for those unplanned holiday expenses, and later this week I’ll dive into the #CashOnly system a little more and show you ways to find cash in hidden places!
